Overview
After completing a care assessment and selecting a coach, your first session will include an introduction to coaching, confidentiality review, and goal-setting. The coach will ask questions to understand your objectives and help set personal goals. You can also contact your coach between sessions through the app's messaging feature.
Complete Your Assessment
When you sign up for your Modern Health benefits, you will initially be asked to complete a care assessment to understand what Modern Health resources are best to support you in your mental health journey. If coaching is suggested, you will then be prompted to select a coach out of a larger set of options based on your specific needs and preferences.
During the Session
During your first session, your coach will kick things off with an introduction to what coaching is and what you can expect during the session. This will include reviewing confidentiality (nothing you discuss is shared with Modern Health or your employer unless you request more support or need crisis resources). They will then ask you a few questions to better understand what you hope to get out of the coaching experience and what a successful experience would be for you. By setting expectations up front, the coach can better help you identify personal goals and take steps towards achieving them. In subsequent sessions, the coach will follow up on any action items to understand their impact and develop the next steps together.
Session Duration
The typical coaching session is 30 minutes over a video call (Zoom) set up through Modern Health, usually every two weeks or once a month. In between sessions, you are encouraged to reach out to your coach with any follow-up questions or advice via the Messages feature in both the desktop and mobile app.
